Bio
Allison Garbutt Macbeth received her bachelor’s degree from ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ of California, Los Angeles and her law degree from ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ of California, College of the Law, San Francisco. After briefly working as a Legal Research Assistant for the San Francisco Superior Court, Allison joined the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office in 2000, beginning in the Writs & Appeals Unit, where she handled a variety of serious and complex cases. Through her subsequent assignments within SFDA, Allison prosecuted over 30 jury trials to verdict. Allison moved back to Writs & Appeals and Trial Integrity Units in 2010, later becoming the managing attorney of Writs & Appeals. In 2022, Allison became an Assistant Chief District Attorney, supervising the Writs & Appeals, Trial Integrity, and Post Conviction Review Units.
Allison has taught at UC Law SF since 2001. Allison’s courses included Legal Writing, Moot Court, and Appellate Advocacy; Allison began teaching Advanced Legal Writing in 2017. Allison is also a Senior Research Fellow with the California Constitution Center at Berkeley Law.
