Bio

Luis Bergolla is the Associate Director of the LL.M. Program and a Professor of Practice at UC Law SF. Professor Bergolla previously served as a Lecturer in Law and Teaching Fellow in the International Economic Law, Business, and Policy LL.M. Program at Stanford Law School.

As an empirical legal researcher, Professor Bergolla examines the impact of the relationship between legal professionals and damages experts on the monetary outcomes of international arbitration cases. His work has been distinguished with the Carl Mason Franklin Award in International Law, and he was the recipient of the Gerald J. Lieberman Fellowship at Stanford ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ.

In his private practice, he represents corporate clients, international investors, and sovereigns in litigation and international arbitration disputes. He also acts as an expert witness on foreign law before the courts and international arbitral tribunals.

Professor Bergolla’s background includes teaching law in the undergraduate and M.L.S. law programs at the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ of Arizona, a clerkship for a Superior Court judge in Arizona, and participation in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Honors Program. He has also completed research visits at prestigious institutions, including the Georgetown ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Law Center, the Max Planck Institute for Procedural Law, the ICC International Court of Arbitration, and the Católica Global School of Law.

Professor Bergolla earned his J.S.M. at Stanford Law School, his J.D. at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, and his LL.M. at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ of Georgia. He is admitted to the bars of New York and D.C.
